As the title says, my name is Andrew Ebbatson and this is my web log. If you are interested in etymology and have questions about my surname then please don’t contact me as I know nothing other than someone was the son of Ebbat at some point in the past…probably.

I currently live in Wales (part of the UK for those of you who don’t know – or part of England for you are Americans) in the less than exciting town of Merthyr Tydfil with my wife Estelle, our two sons Dylan and Ethan and our cat Jackson.

I work as a general developer/support geek at a company called IS Solutions Plc based in Sunbury-on-Thames. I’ve been with them for many years now and for the past four years I have been permanently based at home only having to make the 300 mile commute every now and then. I get to design, program and support lots of varied and interesting projects with various technologies, the projects range from tight deadlined web apps to equally tight deadlined desktop apps so it’s got it’s good points and bad points but it really ruined a perfectly good hobby!

Computers take up pretty much all of my time since Christmas 1982 when santa brought me my first love – a Commodore VIC-20. I really have my mother to thank for my career as she gave me the programming manual weeks before Christmas to shut me up, so whereas I had planned a simple life of playing computer games for the whole of my teenage years, I instead discovered computer programming and planned a life of being a millionaire computer programmer….and what do you know, excluding the money, it’s pretty much gone according plan.

A random spouting of interests would be space, computers, science, computers, aircraft, computer, formula one, computers, games, coffee and pot. Did I mention I like computers?
